Meta analysis of randomized, controlled, clinical studies of acupunc-ture for the treatment of nervous system diseases has demonstrated that acupuncture effectively treats optic atrophy and depression. However, the quality of selected studies has been low and evidence was inadequate. Therefore, the efficacy significance of acupuncture for some nervous system disease remains limited. 
In this issue of NRR, three papers utilized meta-analysis following retrieval from Chinese and English databases of related, randomized, controlled studies to analyze related clinical evidence. In addition, the papers discussed the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for treating optic atrophy, depression, and other nervous system diseases.
